In conclusion, Christopher Columbus the man who has been described as one of the greatest mariners in history, a visionary genius, a mystic, and more discovered one of the greatest findings in history, a whole continent. Columbus once called himself the “Admiral of the Ocean Seas”, some people agree and some people don't. Columbus, just one man was able to bring the agriculture of the Old and New Worlds into contact with each other. At this time columbus thought that adding useful plants to each culture would greatly increase the number of kinds of foods and quantity of food from both plant and animal sources. We are safe to say that he did do that because today we eat foods from all over. Lots of people say that he destroyed all the beautiful in the New World, for his thirst for greed and fame. But you have to remember his intentions most of the time was to find gold. The proof that shows Columbus's impacts were significant was that it still effects today. Columbus found our home. Columbus brought together two different cultures. The Europeans with their spirit and hierarchy were very different from the Native American’s natural way of living. These differences caused fighting over land, religion and trade. Columbus took as many natives he could fit on his ship, with gold, spices and stories of wealth back to spain which in turn gained the backing he needed to finance more voyages. This began the great Trans-Atlantic slave route between the New World and Spain with Columbus as the leader. These are all the factors that make people say that Columbus was the greatest mariner in history.
